Wharfedale's bipolar satellite speakers are designed with home theater use in mind, serving as the rear left/right pair in a 5.1- or 7.1-channel listening setup. Each speaker offers 4 drivers (2 each 1.1-inch tweeter and 4-inch midrange woofer) radiating outward in two directions in order to provide clear and incredibly spacious sound for the back of your listening room, accenting the onscreen action with subtle environmental cues.
Alternately, you could use the speakers in public spaces where precise stereo "imaging" between two speakers is not required and wide sound dispersion is a virtue.
Every component of the speakers is hand-assembled in Wharfedale's production facilities, the whole process overseen from start to finish with comprehensive quality controls. Polypropylene cones and hand-wound voice coils are used in the main drive units, which are then assembled in a strong and virtually resonance-free MDF (medium-density fiberboard) enclosure.
The ferrofluid-cooled tweeters are engineered to produce a neutral tone but with incredible accuracy to create the trademark Wharfedale stereo image for stunning, fully three-dimensional sound.
Wharfedale WH-2 package consists of two bipolar rear speakers and a center channel for adding to your existing front stereo speakers to produce a multi-channel system with ideal characteristics for home cinema and multi-channel music - without the need to trade-in your beloved stereo speakers. Bipolar means that both sets of drive units respond in phase (at exactly the same time). With a pair of these mounted on a rear wall, the inner set of drive units provides a direct stereo image, whereas the other set of drive units, fires towards and bounces off the wall. This provides the ambient sound and creates a sense of space and openness around the subject.A center channel has to have a smooth even frequency response throughout the vocal section of the sonic spectrum - tuned slightly differently from other speakers, the center channel will handle most of the dialogue and vocals, making it one of the most important speakers in any package - Wharfedale's is no exception. So, before you sacrifice your system completely to multi-channel, ask for an audition of WH-2 and enjoy the best of both worlds.
Wharfedale has been leading
innovation in loudspeaker design since 1932. Through the award-winning early
drive units and loudspeaker its, to famous marques such as the ‘Airedale’,
Wharfedale has brought n ow one of the fastest growing audio brands in the world,
we currently have manufacturing base of over 1.2 million square feet, encompassing
everything from capacitor manufacture to full production of over 600 different
drive units, we offer outstanding value through complete vertical integration
of every process and sub-assembly - even to the extent that we manufacture our
own tools.
Wharfedale’s UK team
of engineers design every detail of every product meticulously with complete
freedom to explore new technologies and materials. The results are clear to
see with significant technological and performance advantages over our competitor’s
products. Cast alloy
DPC* chassis; high resolution tweeters; Super Audio Capacitors; high-grade internal
wiring; Bi-directional KEVLAR“ woven cones; high-temperature double and
quadruple wound voice-coils and rare-earth neodymium magnet assemblies are just
some of the cutting-edge features we have included in our current ranges.
