The Mordaunt Short™ Performance™
9 subwoofer incorporates two sizeable 25cm (10 inch) long-throw drivers. Each
25cm driver is powered by its own 500W IcePower module which dramatically reduce
heat loss and therefore increases efficiency, allowing the Performance 9 subwoofer
to deliver its mammoth 1000W power output.
The woofers operate in an opposed configuration delivering an elegant solution
which offers inherent balance and mutually cancelling reactive forces between
the two drivers. These are mounted within an ultra rigid, cast steel chassis
assembly which is coupled directly to the floor and completely isolated from
the enclosure.
In the subwoofer, you'll also find second generation ARC technology. Active
Room Control (ARC) was developed by Mordaunt-Short to deliver the very best
subwoofer performance regardless of the listening environment.
The brief for the Performance™
series was simple: to push the design and manufacture of loudspeakers to the limit
of technology, both in terms of acoustics and materials.
Our goal of acoustic perfection has created a series of "firsts"
for the hi-fi and home cinema industries resulting in uniquely designed and
manufactured components.
Performance is the result of a three-year research and development programme
at Mordaunt-Short which culminated in major technological advancements. Progressive
technologies include a radical proprietary polymer resin cabinet construction,
which has incredible inherent mechanical strength.
In addition, Performance sees the launch of Mordaunt-Short's patent pending
ATT™ Aspirated Tweeter.

Since its foundation, Mordaunt Short has produced legendary
designs including the Festival, Carnival and Pageant models of the early-Seventies
which was followed by the Pearl Edition range of the late-Nineties right through
to today’s Performance and Genie ranges. Every one of these models was
conceived from one continuing vision - to build the best loudspeaker money can
buy, combining engineering excellence, an enthusiasm for innovation and carefully
controlled manufacturing processes.
