Construction Without Peer
Sigma Retro Gold Interconnect Cables were crafted with a dual objective:
simplicity and purity. To recreate sound as it was heard in its original
environment, the designers explored the three major elements of cable
construction that determine performance — the conductor, the insulators, and
the geometry — to control the propagation of the entire musical signal intact
as it passes through a fine audio system.
Ultra-Pure Copper Conductor. Sigma Retro Gold Interconnect Cables are
carefully manufactured with 99.9999% copper, drawn to specification by custom
machinery. They are then put through a special annealing process to give it the
finest conductive properties while staying flexible and corrosion-resistant for
the purest and most detailed midrange.
Advanced Proprietary Insulation Materials. Sigma Retro Gold's insulation
materials have also been chosen with particular care. First, patented MicroFiber®
is wound around the various wire networks to provide proper isolation and
protection from contact generated noise, to ensure the quietest background and
the greatest freedom from cable-generated noise. Then a distinct cross-linked
polymer dielectric called PEX-2® is pressure-extruded using
laser-controlled precision dies to the precise dimensions to produce the
insulation, which reduces capacitance and ensures stability for a wide range of
frequencies. Since PEX-2 does not chemically react with copper, it guarantees
that the impeccable high frequency performance will not degrade by corrosion at
the copper surface. Lastly, the Super MultiTwist™ construction rejects audio
bandwidth distortions for greater clarity and imaging.
Geometry Based on Decades of Experience. To ensure overall consistency
and excellence in performance, Sigma Retro Gold's patented proprietary
technologies represent the best in winding methods, gauge selection, and twist
design. Speaker terminations feature 24k platinum/gold contact alloy spade
connectors that are flat on one side for maximum contact area and Turbine®
textured on the other side for a secure clamp to the binding post. The finished
cable is covered in an elegant woven fabric reminiscent of the Golden Age of Hi-Fi
during the 1950s and 60s.
