Using biwired speaker cable is simply a better way to connect your speakers to your amplifier and is a cost effective alternitave to the BEST and most costly option of biamplification. If your speakers are able to suppport a biwired configuration, they will have two negative and two positive binding post instead of just one of each.
One set of positive and negative binding post will be labeled "highs" and the second set will be labeled "lows". You will notice that there is a metal clip connecting the two postive binding post together as well as the negative. This allows the "lows" and the "highs" to be bridged together.
When using non-biwired speaker cable, you will want to leave these metal clips in place. When using biwired speaker cable such as Monsters, you will want to make sure you remove these clips to ensure the full benefit of biwiring is realized.
Benefits of biwiring are not subtle and offer an outstanding increase in a systems performance. The most obvious effects are in the mids and highs. We have also noticed in our own testing that speakers tend to perform more effortlessly and sound fuller at lower volumes when biwired. To keep it simple, you are basically allowing your sound to travel on a four lane super freeway with two exits as opposed to a two lane road with just one exit.
The Monster Cable MCX1s Biwire speaker cable is pre-terminated with the Monster Master Pin Base. The Master Pin Base by itself is designed for use with most vintage style spring-loaded terminals that were common a very long time ago. The bottom of the Master Pin Base is also threaded so that Monster Lock Connectors can easily be screwed on to the Master Pin Base. The benefit of this design is that you can easily change your speaker wires termination configuration to taylor the changing needs of your system without the enormous hassel associated with cutting and soldering wires and connectors. It also helps ensure that your cables remain oxygen free helping to eliminate corrosion problems that will impede your signal.
Monster Lock Connectors are available in Bannana Plugs, Medium Spades, Large Spades, Extra Large Spades and also a Flex Tip connector. Each pack of terminations comes with 2 pairs of connectors. For a typical set of stereo speakers, you will need 3 packs of terminations in order to properly terminate both the speaker side and the amplifier side of your system, more if you are setting up a home theater system.
