Wild West Electronics encourages you to invest in high quality Monster Cables to get the most performance available out of your new Adcom GDV870 DVD Player.
If you are connecting the Adcom GDV870 to a product such as the new Adcom GFR700HD receiver or the new Adcom GTP870HD preamplifier processor, we would suggest connecting the DVD player to these devices using a component video cable such as the Monster Cable M1000 CV-4 component video cable and a Monster Cable optical cable for digital audio such as the Monster Cable M1000 DFO-4 or better.
The reason why is that these particular Adcom components have built-in scalers that have superior video processing power to what is on-board the Adcom DVD player. To get the most out of these combinations, it is suggested that you adjust the output of the Adcom DVD Player so that it send a 480i signal out to the respective Adcom receiver or Preamplifier Processor. Doing this will allow the scaler in these devices to up convert your signal all the way up to a high-quality 1080p format through its HDMI output. The scaler will also scale all other standard formats as well so that you may best match your signal to the native resolution of your display device.
If you are connecting your new GDV870 DVD Player to a non-Adcom receiver or processor that does not have a super quality 1080p scaler as found in the respective Adcom products, we would recommend that you connect your DVD player using a high quality HDMI Cable such as the Monster Cable M1000 HD-4 HDMI cable or better.
If you are using your Adcom GDV870 DVD Player with a home theater system, we also recommend sending the video signals to your home theater receiver or preamplifier processor if it is capable first, then use the devices respective monitor video output to send the signal with a single cable to your display. Doing this will make your system much easier to use because you will be able to use multiple video devices and switch between them while only using a single video input on your television. As a result, when you select "DVD Player" on your receiver or processor, you will see the output of the DVD player on your display, when you select "Cable Box", you will see that respective output on your display device. This is far easier that having to change the inputs on both your receiver or processor and on your display device. In addition, it enables you to use just a single long run of high quality cable to your display device saving you the cost of multiple long runs of video cables which if using good quality cables aren't particularly cheap.
