Digital to Analog Converters (DACs)
These devices are designed to take digital audio signals and convert them to an analog signal your home audio equipment can amplify and you can hear.
All digital signals at some point must be converted to an analog signal. The better this conversion, the better the analogs signals sound quality will be.
Many of these devices can upsample the inbound digital audio signal to a higher resolution offering even more improved audio fidelity.
Using an outboard digital to analog converter (DAC) is a great way to obtain a much higher fidelity from your digital sources; i.e.. Computers, iPod, Digital Satellite Radio, Cable or Satellite tav music stations et cetera. The DACs that are equipped on many of these devices are typically of very poor quality so keeping your audio signal digital and sending it to a high quality DAC will dramatically improve your home audio systems fidelity.
