With over 10 years of engineering and fabrication experience Ultralink/XLO’s Argentum Acoustics® cables are manufactured with the very best materials, processes and dielectrics available, hand terminated with beautifully engineered, industrial designed connectors and an elegant black jacket. Conductors are 99.99998% laboratory-grade UPOCC (Ultra-Pure Ohno Continuous Cast) copper except for the silver Argento, and feature ultra-low capacitance DuPont™ Teflon™ insulation. Connectors are minimal mass and non-magnetic ensuring low self-inductance and feature direct 24K gold-plated contacts. All Argentum Acoustics® cables are cryogenically treated during the manufacturing process.
Being and Nothingness
In a nutshell, everyone says cables should be neutral and totally passive with zero effect on the sound. Argentum accepts that passing current through a conductor and its insulation (the dielectric) produces well-documented electrical phenomena, so we design our cables as the active components they really are. Current through a conductor and its insulator creates magnetic and electrostatic fields, plus the design must consider characteristic impedance, capacitance, resistance, inductive reactance, capacitive discharge effect, the dielectric constant and its dump rate. Engineering Truth

Argento™ Coaxial Digital Cable
Most digital data outputs are 75 ohm coaxial connections on RCA connectors; the clock, left channel and right channel information are interleaved on a single cable.
Coaxial digital cables carry digital signals up in the megahertz range and must maintain a constant 75 ohm transmission line to avoid echoes that lead to timing errors.
As silver’s outer oxide layer is more conductive than copper’s, and because digital’s extremely high frequencies ride the outside layer of the conductor, Argentum Acoustics’ lab-grade silver is the material of choice, paired with DuPont™ Teflon™ dielectric.
The shield does double duty in coaxial cables; it protects the digital datastream within the cable as well as shielding the rest of your system from radiated high-frequency digital noise.

Argentum Acoustics was specifically designed with 2-channel analog audio in mind. The brand consists of the Aureus-2 and Aureus-2BW (bi-wire) speaker cables, the Mythos RCA line-level audio interconnects and balanced analog audio interconnects, the Argento Coaxial Digital Cable, the Millenia AES-EBU digital cable and the Proteus-12™ 12 gauge AC Power Cord. All are available in a variety of lengths.
All Argentum Acoustics cables are hand terminated using connectors exclusively designed for the new brand. They are made from the very best materials and dielectrics to Argentum Acoustics own rigorous standards. All cables and interconnects are cryogenically treated and use only 99.99998% laboratory-grade UPOCC (Ultra-Pure Ohno Continuous Cast) copper. Ultra-low capacitance DuPont™ Teflon™ insulation is used on all cables and interconnects.
The brand's audio interconnects feature RCA or XLR connectors, which can also be used for video applications. All connectors, regardless of application are non-magnetic, minimal conducting mass designs (for low self-inductance) and feature direct gold-plated contacts. Speaker cables are terminated with interchangeable large (8.0mm) billet-cut spade lugs or "Deltron-style" banana plugs. All spade lugs are made from CDA alloy 101 (99.994% pure) copper and all are direct gold plated, with no intervening layer of nickel to spoil the sound.
Argentum Proteus-12™ AC power cables use a genuinely advanced technology, protected under U.S. Patent No. 5,110,999. A twelve-gauge (AWG) configuration is available. It features Counter-Spiral wound, multi-gauge, multi-core construction of 6N UPOCC copper and UL approved low dielectric constant insulation and jacketing. Each is double shielded and double grounded, for noise-free operation and all are terminated with Furutech™ Alpha Pure Copper™ AC plugs and IEC connectors with Argentum's own proprietary precision machined metal shells.
