The Chameleon Silver Plus audio interconnect cable is the first interconnect in the range to use silver-plated conductors in combination with Teflon insulation. This is a combination of materials that the Chord Company use extensively and the improvements they bring to dynamic, detail and tonal transmission are very obvious. Correctly used, silver-plated conductors can help to bring real definition to the often complex information that makes up the harmonic signature of a musical instrument. Cymbals really benefit, as do acoustic guitars and pianos and the timbre of acoustic instruments is more apparent.
There is a widely held belief that cables that use silver are all about bass and treble, this simply isn't the case. Properly designed cables that use silver as a conductor are extremely neutral right across the audio frequency range. Used with Chord Rumour or Chord Odyssey the Chameleon Silver Plus will produce a wide and stable stereo image. Individual instruments will be easier to pick out and identify and complex passages of music will be simpler to follow.
This combination of cables is also an exceptionally good choice for use in a home cinema system. The performance characteristics bring serious levels of clarity to even the most complex action sequences.

However, throughout the range there are certain combinations of interconnects and speaker cables where the sum of the performance is greater than the parts, and when the two cables are combined in a system, they will produce outstanding results.

Chameleon Silver Plus is the first interconnect in the Chord range to use silver-plated oxygen free copper conductors and because of this, the obvious choice of speaker cable is Chord Rumour, the first speaker cable in the range to use this combination. The performance characteristics of both these cables make them ideal for use with each other and this is a particularly well-balanced combination.
Upgrade paths: The combination of Chord Chameleon Silver Plus and Rumour speaker cable really does produce an extremely even and well-balanced performance. So much so that whilst it is of course possible to improve on levels of detail, signal bandwidth and dynamic coherence the performance balance of the cable is such that no one area shouts out for improvement. Upgrading to Chord Odyssey speaker cable does work well and keeps the inherent balance of abilities whilst improving the dynamic characteristics and bringing better levels of bass control and definition. We would recommend that in a system using Chameleon Silver Plus and Rumour speaker cable that the speaker cable is upgraded to Odyssey before considering interconnects. When this has been done it will be worth experimenting with the Chorus 2 interconnects.

The Company was started in 1986 to produce and sell the Chord Chrysalis interconnect range. Never was a product so aptly named. The Chrysalis cable had a remarkably well-balanced set of performance characteristics and from this, The Chord Company's outstanding range of interconnect cables has emerged and grown.
